When Families Learn, Communities Transform

At Gedi, we see families and communities as part of the learning ecosystem, not separate from it. When parents, caregivers, and neighbours engage in meaningful learning alongside children, the ripple effects reach far beyond the classroom. Adults gain deeper self-awareness, stronger communication skills, and new ways of showing up—in their families, their workplaces, and their communities. The result is not only more connected children, but more grounded, capable, and compassionate adults.

A thriving society depends on interconnected individuals who learn from one another, contribute their strengths, and support collective progress

Camp Gedi

Camp Gedi is a reimagined summer day camp where children explore who they are, build deep connections, and grow through play, nature, and real-world learning.

Gedi Gatherings

Gedi Gatherings are year-round community events that bring people together for meaningful conversation and collective learning—led by and for the community.

Year-round Community Events

Our year-round community events turn homes, parks, and public spaces into co-created learning environments where children and adults explore, connect, and grow together.

The Hive We’re Building

Our long-term vision is to create a permanent space that brings all parts of the Gedi model to life: a school and centre where co-created learning is the norm—not the exception.

The Gedi School & Centre will be a place where children, families, educators, and community partners come together to learn, lead, and grow. It will embody the Beehive Model—interdependent roles, shared responsibility, and continuous learning, all under one roof.

It’s a hive for human development. Designed to evolve with the people inside it, not apart from them.

Parents as Co-Creators

Parents want to be involved in their children’s education... They bring valuable, diverse, and intergenerational perspectives.

Gedi recognizes what many education systems overlook: that families are not just stakeholders—they're essential collaborators. Parents bring insights that classrooms alone can’t provide, and when they're included meaningfully, learning deepens for everyone.

This is co-creation in action: listening, learning, and evolving together.

Voices From the Gedi Village

  • Lauren Paris, mom of two (7 and 9)

Camp Gedi was truly remarkable. Both my children were terrified, filled with anxiety about starting camp and joining a new group... That changed real quick. In the end, they left crying, both not wanting it to be over, really having loved every moment and the unique bonds they created.

The family festival weekend was truly something wonderful. The Gedi community planned and accommodated such a special event for all of the campers & their families at the beautiful haute goat farm. we enjoyed up close meetings with all of the animals, did group activities, had a parent workshop, enjoyed delicious farm to table meals, hiked the gorgeous grounds & spent quality time with each other camping under the stars, breathing in the fresh air.

This is the first summer camp that we have tried that our daughter positively loved!  She has made us promise to sign her up again in perpetuity, which we will gladly and gratefully do!  There is something magical about the camp Gedi experience, and I am not sure I'll be able to do it justice to it in a brief testimonial. The counsellors and directors are loveable, patient and wise. They taught our daughter so many things, and allowed time for exploration, self-direction, creativity, and play. The programming is thoughtful, and exposes kids to a brilliant mix of nature exploration, team building, social and emotional learning, and community engagement.  The kids are not divided by age, but get to interact with a whole merry band of children of different ages, and our daughter formed meaningful friendships with older and younger kids, which she particularly enjoyed.  The family festival weekend was delightful, and built community not only among the kids, but among parents and caregivers as well.  What a memorable, unique experience this was!  We feel lucky to have found such a gem. We loved the camp, and look forward to next summer.

Let me start by saying how much our family is grateful for our Gedi camp community. Being a newcomer to Canada is not always easy. Most of the times there is no one to help you around children, from daily care when parents work to school pick up, which makes our days very stressful. During those 3 weeks with Camp Gedi, there was no stress at all! Dedicated teachers and staff helped, both, our son and us, to ease anxiety about pick up or later afternoon care. Thank you Gedi for being flexible!

Secondly, let me focus on what our son liked the most. He was super happy to hear that teachers will be the same throughout all 3 weeks, he made really nice connections with them, via conversations, guidance, support and fun outdoor activities. Next, he loved that camp was intergenerational which allowed him to spend time with an “older brother” or an “younger sister” he doesn't have. And, at the same time, meet his peers and have a blast playing and learning about nature and how to regulate emotions. He as well liked that during free play he got to climb trees and play sports he loves.

Both, us as parents and our son had a wonderful overnight camp experience at a farm where we all were invited by Gedi organization. Workshops, meeting other families, farm animals, delicious food, only  to mention a few!

Thank you for the thorough review of Yoav's time at camp. I want to start by saying that although we haven't been extremely responsive, your presence and influence on our lives were and are still very noticeable. We too admired Yoav's progress and ability to spend time outdoors, and his persistence and at times strange (to me at least) desire to go on the family weekend for the second time and make it through the night. None of these would have been possible without your support and acceptance -  you, Quinn, JJ and the other counselors have been so generous and understanding, accommodating and accepting throughout all the hardships and challenges.

I honestly couldn't be happier that Yoav got to spend all these weeks with you, I think it showed him that he CAN do well in an unfamiliar environment, and that he CAN have fun and spend quality time outdoors, and make new friends!

He and Biko had a long fun playdate last weekend, and they are working on setting up another one this coming weekend, and we are very happy about this new friendship.

I look forward to taking part in the activities you plan for the year…
